Weirton is blessed with a variety of quality recreation facilities, and numbering among the highest is the Millsop Community Center. The newly remodeled Community Center houses an indoor swimming pool, five racquetball courts, indoor basketball courts, exercise rooms, weight rooms, game room, snack bar, meeting rooms, and much more.
Located on Weirton Heights the Starvaggi Pool and Park is complete with shelter houses, large playground areas, basketball courts, and tennis courts. The City also has several parks located in various neighborhoods. These parks offer playground equipment, tennis and basketball courts as well as baseball, softball, football, and soccer fields.
Located near the Weirton Medical Center is the newly developed JC Williams Soccer Complex which boasts new fields, bleachers and concession stand to accommodate the growing interest of our youth. The newly renovated Jimmy Carey Stadium is host to home games for Weir High and Madonna football as well as other youth football programs. The Edwin J. Bowman Baseball field and the Weirton Baseball Field on Kings Creek host local high school and legion baseball teams; and youth baseball teams respectively.
Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack, and Resort, is only 30 minutes north of Weirton and offers a variety of entertainment.
Within 30 minutes south of Weirton, in the City of Wheeling, is Oglebay Park– one of the greatest tourist attractions in the area. Facilities include: riding stables, golf course, skiing, Children’s Good Zoo, paddle boating, swimming pool, miniature golf, and much much more! The Festival of Lights held every year November through January attracts millions of people.
